Centre for Lexicology and Lexicography

The Centre for Lexicology and Lexicography is a centre for research and development in lexicology and lexicography. Work in lexicography consists both of the production of lexical databases and dictionaries and of research about dictionaries, so called meta-lexicography.

Dictionary development and research

The development of dictionaries is primarily carried out as externally funded projects. The long-standing collaboration with e.g. the Swedish Academy provides the stability needed for long term projects. Research within lexicography, as well as within lexicology, is carried out by both academic staff and Ph.D.-candidates who are specialising in this area.

Seminars, courses and conferences

The Centre for Lexicology and Lexicography organises a regular seminar and sometimes offers specific courses related to their activities. The centre plays a prominent role within Nordiska föreningen för lexikografi (NFL), in particular in connection with the journal LexicoNordica. Results from various projects are regularly presented at international conferences such as Konferens om lexikografi i Norden, Euralex and eLex.
