Professor of Swedish
While basically a syntactician, I tend to concern myself with the interplay between what is often treated as separate parts of the language, such as grammar and lexicon, or syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. In recent years, I have mostly pursued such issues from the view-point of Construction Grammar. Nevertheless, I still consider myself a pluralist, or perhaps a seeker, in terms of theoretic affiliation. I also have some experience with usage guides, both from studying them (a better research topic than you might think!) and from co-writing one.
My usual object of study is Swedish, including some work on American Swedish and Finland Swedish. However, while I typically approach theoretical issues in the light of Swedish data, the overall purpose is of course to contribute to our understanding of language in general.
